Developing Socio-Economic Analysis for the Operational Program Regional Development 2014-2020

The service is performed under project BG161PO001/5-01/2008/055 “Programming of Regional Development for the Period 2014-2020”, funded by the European Regional Development Fund and by the state budget of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The main objective of the present project is to develop a detailed socio-economic analysis for the purposes of Operational Program Regional Development 2014-2020, in view of identifying strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats for the development of Bulgarian regions, i.e. border regions, priority areas of impact for overcoming disparities in development, taking advantage of existing opportunities for accelerated and sustainable socio-economic development and territorial cohesion. In addition, the analysis will serve to define the problems experienced by the Bulgarian regions and to lay down a strategy for sustainable development in the period 2012-2022 within the National Regional Development Strategy 2012-2022.

The main results within the framework of the project include:

• Comparative analysis of socio-economic development in Bulgaria and the EU. The analysis covers two axes:
• Contribution of the National Development program Bulgaria 2020 for achievement of the objectives of the Europe 2020 Strategy;
• Comparative analysis of Bulgarian regions with the EU regions. 
• SWOT analysis of interregional and inner regional disparities in socio-economic development 
• Analysis of the results from the quantitative evaluation of the elements of the SWOT matrix
• Processing and extra focus based conclusions of the SWOT analyzes, analysis of integrated urban regeneration and development
• Revision and update of the analysis, SWOT analysis and conclusions following discussions with stakeholders, the results form the preliminary assessment, environmental assessment, negotiations with the European Commission, Integrated plans for urban regeneration and development according to the latest statistics.
